Certainly, I can access the online help—that’s not a problem. The question arose because I enjoy browsing through PDF files. I was really looking to establish a workflow for converting such online help into a PDF. In the past, for instance, you could convert standard Windows help files using the software "HelpNDoc."

If one has cropped the original image, and toggles Clip to Canvas to OFF, you then see the entire canvas without the white border, but the crop is no longer visible. Still, good to know. I hated when they added that white border in v3 and still do. It makes it difficult to assess what is happening along edges.

[…] About V3, keep in mind that you can run V3 independently of Photo V2 -- in fact I have all three v1 & all three V2 apps, as well as V3 on my Mac, & none interfere with any of the others. So, assuming your old computer has room on its hard drive to install V3, you can install it, & see if the RAW files display correctly in it. Also, V3 may actually run faster than AP2 but you will never know unless you try it.

In version 2 of Affinity Photo we could isolate Spare Channels (see just the greyscale image that is one channel) and edit them then use the edited versions as masks or for selections. It was great. Since the introduction of Affinity (by Canva) we can still edit them but not without seeing the full colour of the document. I really miss being able to see what is happening to the spare channel. I have reported this as a bug but there has been no attempt to get back to the very useful method…

At present there is no way to disable this from happening every time you open an image. To remove it just press the backslash key \ with the layer selected but you have to do this every time. It is annoying & a request has been made to enable this to be disabled in the preferences. Likewise images always open with the Move Tool selected rather than the View Tool. This has also been the subject of a request to the developers to make this an option too. Hopefully they will listen eventually. I…

That is the Clip To Canvas view function. Toggled with the keyboard shortcut [\] (backslash). Alternatively it can be toggled via View -> Clip To Canvas. When on, the border delineates the edge of the canvas and everything that exceeds the border is clipped from view. When off, the border is removed and you can see the objects that pass beyond the edge of the canvas in their full glory. This is a view toggle only, and not to be confused with the (unfortunately) similarly named Clip Canvas…

The old Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher forum by Serif is now in read-only mode and serves only as an archive. But the exchange among users, shared learning, and creative collaboration are too valuable to disappear. This new Affinity Community was created as a living space for questions, ideas, and inspiration.
