Thank you to everyone for the suggestions. I thought I'd follow up with some initial findings based upon very, very limited testing. @Toblerone - I downloaded AIArty once again and tried it out. It performed OK, but certainly not as good as all the hype would have one believe. As I have before, I quickly came to the conclusion that it was not worth the purchase price. Affinity Studio Freezing when exporting PDFs.

OK, so in my case it's got something to do with Picture Frame content. I had a Group layer with a mask and a few filters inside the Picture Frame. Example screenshot: Moving the group outside "fixed" it for now and I could export in any custom PDF preset: Still, smells like a bug to me.

Yep, similar here on MacOS Sonoma. Just noticed today: a massive memory leak with the OS bringing up the Force Quit dialog window. From what I can say so far, in my case it apparently affects custom export presets, not the default ones. I was just about to begin with some more testing.

Affinity Studio Freezing when exporting PDFs.

I am running os Tahoe and just updated recent AS update. Now I can't export my files to print. Freezes the program... see screen shot... any help is greatly needed... deadline.

The old Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher forum by Serif is now in read-only mode and serves only as an archive. But the exchange among users, shared learning, and creative collaboration are too valuable to disappear. This new Affinity Community was created as a living space for questions, ideas, and inspiration.
